As you work on your final projects I will be assessing your progress at regular intervals to provide formative feedback and help you stay on track toward the goal of making an excellent educational game. The way that these check-in’s will work is that I will assess the current state of your game against the rubric for the final product. This will give you a chance to see where your current design stacks up against expectations and course correct if there are issues.
For assigning actual grades I will be using a lower bar for expected overall score that corresponds with the expected level of progress at each stage. Scores will be capped to this lower bar in the case that you are ahead of the game. (i.e. you can't get > 100% on the assignment).
For these check-in reports, I am not asking you to produce lengthy write-ups. Instead, I would like you to write a brief 1-2 paragraphs describing the current status of each component (learning goals, experience goals, ideation / prototyping, playtesting / evaluation, and playable prototype) with plans for next steps. Along with the paragraphs include links to your team’s Production Log and other working documents where I can see evidence of the status of each dimension for myself.
