Course Syllabus

This 6-unit course is the companion course to 08-607 Privacy-by-design Practicum, also known as the MSIT-PE capstone project. The purpose of this course is to help guide students through the capstone project as well as to improve students’ project management, group work, and presentation skills.

This course meets weekly in GHC 6501.

Each sponsoring organization has identified a contact person, whom you should meet with (virtually) on a weekly basis. In addition, we have assigned a faculty advisor to each project. You should meet with the advisor on a weekly basis as well and CC your advisor on all emails with your sponsor.

The semester goes by quickly so you will want to develop a plan and timeline for your project quickly and stay on schedule. It is important that you get off to a good start and identify any obstacles early on so that you have time to address them. If you are running into problems with your group members, your sponsor, access to resources, etc. please let your advisor or the 08-606 faculty know so they can help you address them.

Grading

Grades will be based on your attendance and active participation in class, and on the work you present in class. This will be separate from the grade you receive in 08-607, which will be based on your final project deliverables, final report, final presentation, and how well your deliverables satisfied the sponsor’s needs.

Schedule   Tentative, subject to change
